students were recognized for achieving the seal of biliteracy

MANCHESTER – Three Manchester School District students were recognized at Monday night's Board of School Committee meeting for earning the Seal of Bilteracy. The seal is a prestigious honor presented to students  who have studied and attained proficiency in two or more languages by high school graduation.

The Board of School Committee and Manchester School District highlighted the students' achievement during Monday's meeting.

  • Huy Ha, Central High School – Vietnamese and English, former English Language Learner, scored high proficiency on both language exams
  • Jayce Mendez Garcia, MST – Spanish and English, former English Language Learner, scored high proficiency on both language exams
  • Fatima Malikic, MST – Bosnian and English, former English Language Learner, scored high proficiency on both language exams

The three high school seniors had already received a state-issued award certificate through the Seal of Biliteracy, a nationally recognized program across 49 states. Students who earn this designation will receive the state seal on their high school and documentation of this accomplishment will be included on the student’s official high school transcript, a distinction valued by prospective employers and institutions of higher education.

Please join us in congratulating Huy, Jayce and Fatima on this outstanding accomplishment.
