The first year of this team-taught, interdisciplinary course challenges students to understand the development of societies around the world.The development of civics resulting from the growth of complex societies will be examined. The second year of the course examines the history, literature, government, and economics of the United States beginning with the Colonial era and continuing through contemporary times. 

Students will be required to work collaboratively on group projects and presentations, write extensively, and present orally throughout the course. Grammar, vocabulary development, literary analysis, and basic research methods will be the focus of the instruction and will be embedded in a variety of assessments.
